Legal roles

Commercial Litigation Senior Lawyer, 7+ years' PAE

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial litigation lawyer with approximately 7+ years’ experience, who has the skills necessary to succeed in a busy and diverse practice.

Ideally, you will have had exposure to a range of areas, including the rules of civil procedure in all major courts, the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), partnership / shareholder disputes, insolvency (corporate and personal), property / lease disputes (including retail leases), competition and consumer law (including the ACL), professional indemnity, defamation and insurance coverage disputes.

You will have your own referral network and the ability to bring in at least some of the clients for whom you will be working. We are looking for someone who is as comfortable working autonomously as well as in a team environment, as the cases vary in size and complexity.

Essential personal attributes for the role include a positive attitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, aptitude for providing clients with commercial legal solutions, a practice of some size and a willingness to nurture and/or expand the firm’s business by being able to establish and maintain strong client relationships.

As a member of our Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary and an outstanding work environment. The firm’s culture and the team’s members are friendly and supportive, with an emphasis on a healthy work/life balance.

To apply, please forward a covering letter together with your CV to Davina Onas, General Manager, at: careers@kcllaw.com.au.

Construction and Infrastructure Senior Associate / Special Counsel (front-end and/or back-end), 7+ years' PAE

A great opportunity exists for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join our Construction and Infrastructure team.

KCL Law’s Construction and Infrastructure team act for many nationally based 'tier-1' and 'tier-2' builders and specialist contractors providing advice across the full life-cycle of major infrastructure and commercial projects, including contract procurement through to administration, Security of Payment Act adjudications and dispute resolution.

Recognised in the 2018 Doyle’s Construction Guide as 'recommended' lawyers in construction and infrastructure litigation, Principal Lawyer and Head of Construction and Infrastructure, Darren Cain, and the team itself have been involved in most of the landmark decisions under the Security of Payment Act, and are regularly involved in adjudications and judicial reviews.

As the role is predominantly focused on ‘back-end’ dispute resolution, the successful applicant will be immediately exposed to ‘top-tier’ type litigation and arbitration on major projects involving major participants in the construction and infrastructure space, along with adjudications and judicial reviews under the Security of Payment Act.

Working in a collegial team environment, the ideal candidate will be a nimble thinker who is committed to excellence. With support from the head of the practice, they will also be keen to build on existing networks and develop their own practice.

As a member of the Construction and Infrastructure team, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary and genuine opportunity for career growth. The work culture is friendly and supportive, and encourages work-life balance.
